I was invited to preach at St John's Church, Nottinghill Gate, London during their Sunday liturgy.
It was a privilege. The 3 readings were a) The call of Jeremiah, b) the conversion of Saul, 3) those who have left all to follow Christ.
The theme I took was 'Hineni' the Hebrew word which means 'here I am'. I was inspired by the wonderful person of Ananias in the account of Saul's conversion, or as I prefer to say Pauls 'personal encounter with the Risen Jesus'.
In the story of Saul's conversion it was Ananias who was chosen to to go to Saul. He responds to the call of God with the words 'here I am' Hineni. This theme was present in all the three readings.
What can God do with us if we also respond with our own 'Hineni'?
