"I was a stranger and you made me welcome"
"I was a stranger and you made me welcome"

“I was a stranger and you made me welcome.” Matthew 24:35

At St Chad’s Sanctuary in the heart of Birmingham City Centre, there is a place of welcome and hospitality for Asylum Seekers and Refugees, especially those who are destitute and have no public funds.  This Centre is run by volunteers and supported by St.Chad’s Cathedral and the Salvation Army. The project has been going for five years through the initiative of an Infant Jesus sister. She is very much supported by the generosity of Parishes who have responded to her requests and make donations.

Our Parish has ‘adopted’ this Centre as a very necessary Charity to support and regularly gives time, food and clothing for the good of the refugees and asylum seekers. The Sanctuary is very blessed to have caring and compassionate volunteers who welcome so many people daily, listen to their stories and meet some of their needs. English classes are also offered and welcomed.
