This year our London community was invited to different Seder Meals. Some of the sisters went to family Seders and some of us to communal Seder.
Sister Anne Bickford, Anne McNally and Brenda Dorrian were invited to join the Liberal Jewish Synagogue on Saturday 23rd April 2016, for their Communal Seder on the 2nd night of Passover.
It was a wonderful evening as we listened again to the story of the Exodus from Egypt with the special symbolic foods which helped us remember the bitterness of slavery and the celebration of freedom.
We were about 100 people and the story was read by us all around the table. We have to live the story in our own life today. Who are the people who are slaves today…….could it be those who are kept in detention centre? Those trying to flee from their own countries to save their lives? …… So many different situations of slavery to freedom.
The children played their part, by asking the 4 important questions about the meaning of the Seder.
It was a wonderful evening and a joy to be with the Jewish Community on such a special evening.
Thank you St John’s Wood Road, Liberal Jewish Synagogue for a special and meaningful celebration.
